Law commission report suggests adding new provisions to make speech inciting hated and speech that causes fear, alarm, or provocation of violence a criminal offence under IPC.

• Hate speech has not been defines in any law in india.
• Presently in our country the following legislation have bearing on hate speech, namely:
• Indian penal code 1860
• Representation of people act 1951
• Protection of civil rights act 1955
• Cinematograph act 1952
